With 14mm of rain falling on the track at Musselburgh overnight….
…. the going is heavy….
Tomorrow afternoon’s Queen Cup (3.35) – run over the 1m6f trip – will be a test of stamina….
…. and whilst Harry Fry’s METIER runs off a career-high turf flat mark of 101….
…. he’s only 4lb higher in the handicap than when winning the Chester Cup on soft ground back in May….
He was second in this race last year off 94 – where he would likely have appreciated deeper ground….
… and it’s not hard to see him running a big race at the general 10s & 9s….
He must hump round the top weight tomorrow – but the ground is the key to him….
…. and this relentless operator will appreciate the testing conditions more than most in tomorrow’s field….
It’s a disappointing turnout for the Scottish Sprint Cup (3.00)….
…. but we work with what we’re presented with….
…. and GLORIOUS ANGEL rates a bet at the general 8s & 7s….
He’ll appreciate the ground better than all – with the exception of Vintage Clarets….
Just a short head separated the pair on heavy ground at Catterick last October….
Grant Tuer’s charge is 2lb better off at the weights tomorrow….
…. but trades at twice the price….
…. and represents a little value….
Earlier on the card in the Silver Arrow (2.25) over the 7f trip….
…. course and distance winner ZIP is the bet at the general 11s….
I see him handling conditions better than most….
…. he’s dropped to a winning mark….
…. and he could well strip fitter for a decent enough run at Doncaster last weekend….
…. especially going back up in trip to his preferred 7f….
The pick of the prices….To recap on my bets for tomorrow…. In the 3.35 @ Musselburgh….
e/w terms = Sky Bet are 1/5 (4). It’s 1/5 (3) generally…. In the 3.00 @ Musselburgh….
