Three picks for Sunday….

In ATC today….

…. I bring you my best picks in Sunday afternoon’s biggest betting heats….

I’m on FORGED WELL in the 3.05 at Musselburgh – up at 6s….

…. I’m on FOUND A FIFTY at 11s in the 2.10 at Leopardstown….

…. and I’m on O’MOORE PARK at 16s & 14s in the 2.45 at Leopardstown….

That’s the summary….

It’s a proper kick in the old nether regions….

Leopardstown is off today – with the card being moved to Monday (at least that’s the plan right now)….

The meetings at Sandown and Musselburgh this afternoon go ahead – find my selections here….

Day 2 at Leopardstown (tomorrow) is subject to an inspection tomorrow morning at 8.00am….

…. whilst Musselburgh looks sure to go ahead….

What a kerfuffle!

My picks for tomorrow are below….

First up is FORGED WELL at the general 6s in the Edinburgh National Handicap Chase at Musselburgh (3.05)….

Martin Todhunter’s 7yo is up 7lb for a ready win at the track over 3m just before Christmas and takes a big step up in class….

…. but there’s only two horses rated in the 130s taking part, and it looks a weak enough race for a 0-150….

…. and the way he finished off that last time suggests he can progress again and bridge the gap….

He was strong at the line that day – kept to his work and putting lengths between himself and the rest late on….

You never know until they actually do it, but another mile could be well within his compass….

…. and – if it is – then he could go very close under a low weight with Charlie Maggs taking off 5lb….

In the G1 Dublin Chase at Leopardstown (2.10) I’m rolling the dice and backing FOUND A FIFTY at the general 11s….

He isn’t quite a G1 horse, but one or two of the six runners tomorrow won’t be 100% - because they’re building up to future targets….

…. and on desperate ground – right up the 9yo’s street – this could well turn out to be his big day in the sun….

Forget his last time out performance when some of tomorrow’s opponents were well ahead of him….

…. that race was run on ground way too quick for him and a literal reading of that form is what creates the price tomorrow….

The ground is the key to this bet….

…. it’s come just right for him….

…. and he can run a much bigger race tomorrow than his price suggests….

O’MOORE PARK at 16s & 14s is the pick in the O'Driscolls Irish Whiskey Leopardstown Handicap Chase at Leopardstown (2.45)….

Willie Mullins has pitched him into multiple good handicaps since the spring….

…. at Cheltenham, Sandown, Newbury and Leopardstown….

…. and he’s gone close to landing the money a few times off today’s mark or something very similar….

Last time at Leopardstown he gave another good account of himself in a race that produced the subsequent Thyestes winner and a good winner on the Cross County course at Cheltenham last weekend….

He steps back in trip today and that could be significant….

…. he was third to Caldwell Potter at the Festival in March over an intermediate trip….

…. and then ran Riskintheground close at the same track over the extended 2m4f trip in April….

On desperate ground his stamina for further could well come into play tomorrow and I think he’s an interesting horse at a nice price….

He’s at home in these valuable big-field handicaps….

…. he’s not weighted out of it….

…. and he’s good enough to take his turn if or when it all comes together….
