The pick of the prices on Day 3 at Goodwood….

Get my picks for THIS afternoon….

In ATC today….

…. I bring you my best picks in the big handicaps on Day 3 at Goodwood….

I’m on SAVVY DISKO in the 1.50 – up at 10s….

…. and I’m on TRULY GLAMOROUS at 16s & 14s in the 4.10….

That’s the summary….

…. you’ll find all my reasoning below – as per usual….

Oh…. and if you’re looking for the standout place terms on offer – you’ll find them in the Bet Box below….

Read on….

-----

…. the Kincsem – Goodwood – 1.50....

SAVVY DISKO won in emphatic style at Lingfield in June….

He’d already proved he could handle a downhill course when winning on seasonal return at the same track in May – on the AW….

…. this time he proved that he’s able do it on turf – over a furlong further too – and he was more than good value for an eased down 3.5l win under 3lb claimer Jack Callan….

He’s up 9lb for that success tomorrow – to a mark of 94 – in what is a much deeper race….

…. but he’s clearly in-form….

…. he’s very much on the up-and-up….

…. and – unless trainer and jockey have totally miscalculated and blown his mark for peanuts on handicap debut – I’d wager there’s more to come….

Billy Loughnane takes the ride – which has to be viewed as a positive….

…. and I reckon he’s a fair spin at the 10s….

-----

…. the Buccellati – Goodwood – 4.10....

It’s a take-your-pick job in this one – with a field of 18 unexposed 3yo runners going at it hammer and tongues down the 5f strip….

I’m minded to have a swing of the bat – I’m backing Christopher Mason’s TRULY GLAMOROUS at the 16s & 14s….

Granted he’s never been in a race this deep before and faces opponents that have….

…. but that’s factored into the price and what he is doing is improving rapidly….

…. coming out on top in his last two races at Windsor (always a decent guide for a Goodwood horse) and Newbury….

The Windsor race has worked out nicely in terms of subsequent winners….

…. and the Newbury win was achieved despite Truly Glamorous diving to his right and almost taking out a couple of his rivals inside the final quarter mile….

He’s got quirks – for sure – but the ability’s there….

…. and the cheekpieces go on for tomorrow’s assignment – probably as much for concentration purposes as for a hoped-for performance spike….

He’s 2lb out of the handicap – but I’m not concerned about that….

If nothing else, it enable Gina Mangan (on for both the recent wins) to get back in the saddle….

She can’t do 8-0….

…. and the fact she’s boiling down to 8-2 (she hasn’t ridden lower than 8-4 in the last few years – at least) suggests this colt is considered a player at home….

At least that’s my read….

Now, just to recap….

The pick of the prices….

To recap on my bets….

In the 1.50 @ Goodwood….

  • Pick of the prices – SAVVY DISKO (10s generally)

e/w terms = It’s 4 places generally….

In the 4.10 @ Goodwood….

  • Pick of the prices – TRULY GLAMOROUS (16s & 14s generally)

e/w terms = It’s 5 places generally….

Advised prices are correct at the point of publication – but subject to fluctuation. Shop around – you may find better quotes and terms than advised….

-----

That’s all for today….

I’ll be back tomorrow with picks for Day 4 at the Qatar Goodwood Festival….
