I’m on THE ANGEL KING in the 3.00 – up at 25s….

…. the Grand Finale – York – 3.00....

Just for information purposes, Bullet Point was the one that leapt off the page yesterday afternoon – on first assessments….

However, he’s been well-found in the betting….

…. and my job is not to simply frank whatever the market is already telling you loud and clear….

…. but – wherever and whenever possible – to dig out a potential ‘live’ contender up at a price….

THE ANGEL KING is the one that tickles my fancy in this – up at the general 25s this morning….

The good-looking grey arrived at the yard of Ian Williams in April – coming from France….

Just a few days later he was sent to Haydock – which wouldn’t have been anything more than a looksee….

…. and then he went to the May meeting at Chester – where he caught the eye with a finishing burst from the rear having been slow away from the stalls….

He ran well down the field at Epsom next time – perhaps not taking to the track or perhaps experiencing some other issue….

Whatever, it was 8-weeks before we saw him again….

…. back at Chester….

…. where he ran strong and just got done late over the 7f trip by one of Andrew Balding’s….

It was The Angel King’s most promising run to date in this country….

…. you’d think he’ll strip that bit fitter for it….

…. the tongue tie – which Ian Williams hasn’t applied up until now – is back on for this step up in trip to the mile….

…. and my read is that tomorrow represents something of an acid test for this 4yo….

He’s dropped 4lb to 89 since his arrival on these shores….

…. he’s handily drawn in stall 3….

…. and I see the rain forecasted for today and tomorrow as a big plus….

Quite a few in tomorrow’s field probably don’t want the wet stuff….

…. but The Angel King has form in France on softer surfaces….

…. he might well appreciate expected conditions more than most….

…. and – all things taken together – I reckon he can outrun his price by a fair margin….
